Dear reader, please do not think that I am exasperated with you, personally. As a group, though, I am exasperated at everyone … including myself.
I am exasperated with myself because I thought all y’all knew what the game plan was and would just get out there and do what needed to be done. I thought the instructions were clear, but obviously, something went horribly, terribly wrong. So, let’s try this, again.
When Timothy Snyder said, ‘Do not obey in advance,’ what he meant was, ‘Don’t let a nonexistent government agency (DOGE, pronounced ‘dodgy,’ unless otherwise noted) in to any federal offices. Do not let the DOGE dudes steal government records. Do not listen to DOGE staff when they say that you are fired.’
When I said, in this diary, what we all needed to do, I thought you understood that we needed to act right then. Perhaps I was unclear about the immediacy of getting out there and doing stuff. Let me clear that up: the time to start acting was 1/20/2025.
I had to take until 1/25/2025 because of health issues complicated by the deep grief that Krasnov’s (formerly known as the Tangerine Terrorist, but, I think the Soviet codename is more fitting) second inauguration cause me. But, I rolled up my sleeves, took a look around me and got to getting stuff done. What happened to all of you? Where did all of you go? And, more importantly, why did you not do more to stop the DOGE types from running completely amok?
The male political leaders on the Dem side of the aisle all seemed moribund … female politicians all seemed to be out there causing good trouble. Rep Maxine Waters was physically blocked by a nonfederal employee from entering a federal building and all y’all just stood there watching? You didn’t push by this random private citizen and demand proof that he had any authority to do anything?
Now, others of us let more DOGE types trapse into other offices and rip off untold quantities of data on just about every citizen in this country? Seriously? Just by, what, Krasnov’s fiat and Musk’s good looks? Seriously?!
DOGE is not a recognized federal agency. DOGE staff have no legitimate reason for being on federal grounds, let alone mucking around in the personal data of US citizens. DOGE offices have no Congressional approval, no Congressionally-apportioned funds and no Congressional oversight. Ergo (that’s a fancy foreign word for ‘therefore’), DOGE does not exist to be able to do anything but sit in the White House complex offices it was assigned by Krasnov.
Now, we all need to claw back the illegally attained data, push the DOGE types out into the streets, make sure our federal employees can go to work by showing up to escort them back into their offices and we need our state AGs to file state charges about illegally closing federal offices that forced out our civil servants and our federal, state and local LEOs to enforce the laws by apprehending DOGE staff who illegally entered federal offices and took our personal data. These LEOs need to keep the criminals out and let the civil servants do their jobs.
Our Congressional representatives gotta get moving, too. The Dems are not in the majority, but there are plenty of parlimentary tricks they can play to delay and disrupt whatever shenanigans Krasnov and his lackeys are dreaming up.
We’ve already lost a month and some change. We can’t afford to lose any more time.
Find a way to get involved in your community. Volunteer, look for ways to help, show up at federal offices and show support for the hardworking public servants. Remind them that we are there for them, we support them and we appreciate all the work they do for us.
Make Krasnov and his lackeys work for whatever they want to do. Tell them no at every turn. Make them prove that they have any kind of power. Stand together and point and laugh at the bullies. Stand in solidarity with federal employees, literally. Make it very public about all the illegal stuff Krasnov’s lackeys are doing.
Do not obey in advance. That means, ‘get off your duffs and do something right now!’ They are sprinting ahead of us. Rather than reacting to them, start acting for us.
