Big Idea of the Day: Pettiness as Intimidation

The Tangerine Terrorist and his flying monkeys are busy! Not only are they flooding the zone with all kinds of nonsense, issuing unConstitutional and illegal memos and sending obviously incompetent nominees before the Senate for confirmation to offices of respect and power, but, they are also taking potshots at our heroes and leaders. Pettiness as intimidation.

Retired General Mark Milley’s portraits being removed is just one sign of this. Removing security details from so many people who served this country and who deserve on-going security details, including, but not limited to, Milley, Fauci, Bolton, Pompeo, and Pompeo’s top aide, Brian Hook, is another sign.

Why is TT doing this? Well, like any good white supremacist fascist, removing portraits helps him forget recent history because he no longer has that constant, visual reminder. If he doesn’t see it or hear it, it never happened. He did this when he was 45, too, with everyone who testified before Congress. It didn’t work then and we won’t let it work now.

It is up to the rest of us to constantly remind TT and his followers about how they do not measure up to any of the targets of their ire. We need to continually talk about these incredible people and their amazing accomplishments. We need to remind TT and his followers about all of their failures to accomplish anything and that, while they hold positions of power, they are weak.

Remember that TT has tremendously thin skin. He is a schoolyard bully. He needs constant affirmation. The best way to completely unravel him is to speak about all of his failures, how he is not any sort of person to be respected, and, most importantly, remind him of how his followers talk about him now, or have talked about him in the past.

TT is trying to memory-hole what a failure he was as the 45th president. He and his followers are trying to convince us that his time as the 47th president will not be the same kind of dumpster fire. Our job is to remind them exactly how impotent and incompetent they are. Our job is to continuously remind them of their failures.

When TT’s followers break ranks with him, support them. Welcome them out of the cult of personality. Remind them that they have our support as they rebuild their psyches from all the ravages that cults of personality cause. When they are ready to finally tell themselves the truth, show them that we are here to help them accept that truth.

Remember that TT is the saddest kind of con man: he believes his own con. He is a common, schoolyard bully who only feels powerful when he is denegrating others. Our response must always be to tell him we know the con and quote Eleanor Roosevelt , “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” Follow it up with, “And I do not give you consent.”

Focus on one part of the resistance. Find your best way to support the resistance, the one part of civil rights or policy or politics that speaks best to what is in your heart. Volunteer with groups that help amplify your voice. Donate money if you don’t have time to volunteer. Every part of the resistance is important. When we act together, we can succeed.

Focus on your part. Do not get distracted by all the things TT and his followers are doing.  Teamwork makes the dream work!

Do not obey in advance.

Illegitimi non carborundum.
